H.R. of the Bad Brains for Living Proof Magazine, Issue 15.

H.R. is an artist best known for his role as the frontman of the Bad Brains, a band that left a permanent imprint on hardcore-punk with music about Positive Mental Attitude, Rastafari, spirituality and opposing Babylon.

They stood out not only for being an all-black band in a predominantly white culture at that time, but also for H.R.’s high-intensity stage presence and his message of living life with PMA, a philosophy that resonates with fans to this day.

H.R.’s Rastafarian beliefs led him to pursue a sound heavily influenced by reggae-music. His influence extends well beyond the Bad Brains, with the group widely regarded as a pivotal foundational force in American hardcore and H.R. recognized as one of the genre’s most distinctive and influential frontmen.

For Issue 15, Sebastian Paba spoke with H.R. to speak on his transition to reggae, holding a positive mental attitude, and his lasting impact in the world of music.

Issue 15 of Living Proof Magazine featuring: H.R., SABER MSK, Erik Ellington, Smith Street Rod and Gun Club, Wally Champs / Clarks Originals, Crack Gallery, Tadanori Yokoo, Kunichi Nomura, Addison Kirst, Last Resort AB and Adrian Douzmanian.

Issue 15 will be sent to members of Living Proof New York for the month of September 2026.
